  • Members of the media go on a passenger ride in the Jaguar Type 00 prototype and share their impressions.
  • The 00 impressed journalists with its combination of incredible comfort, refinement and performance.
  • The production version will have a triple-motor with more than 1,000 horsepower and two motors at the back that will power each wheel individually.

Pundits appear to be warming up to Jaguar’s upcoming electric car previewed by the controversial Type 00 concept.

certainly, “Don’t copy” marketing campaign. The rebranding may not have been successful, but the car itself could be great. He recently impressed the editor-in-chief Autocar magazine, which was taken on a model tour around Jaguar’s proving ground at Gaydon.

Steve Cropley called it “the best riding car ever” after testing a prototype on different types of roads and at different speeds. The secret of its remarkable comfort lies in its extremely strong chassis combined with a three-chamber adaptive air suspension system that individually controls the stiffness and damper rates at each corner.

He also tested a three-motor powertrain, which is expected to produce more than 1,000 horsepower, of which 900 horsepower will go to the rear wheels, which, according to Top Gearmake this an unexpectedly good drift machine. It should be very easy to keep the car going sideways thanks to the precise torque vectoring that the dual-motor rear axle will allow.

until Under camouflagethis new Jag sedan — yes, a sedan, as in more two-door than a coupe — still makes a strong impression.

The car looks unusually long and low, with a very short front overhang, a greenhouse at the back, and a lot of stuff hanging over the rear wheels. This design gives it the proportions of a 1930s luxury car, and there will certainly never be anything quite like it on the road, save for a few Rolls-Royce and Bentley models.

Inside the car, the seating position is surprisingly low for an electric car. In many electric cars, even low-end and sporty ones, you still feel like you’re sitting on top of a battery-powered skateboard rather than inside the car. But that will not be the case with the 00, which will combine low seating and great comfort, with a touch of sportiness and this design to deliver an experience unlike any other car on the market today.

It’s also a very accomplished high-speed cruiser and you can carry on a perfectly civilized conversation without raising your voice at 150 mph, even with the extra noise generated by the camo on the prototype. From the acceleration experience, Cropoli says he believes the car has a two-speed transmission like the Porsche Taycan or Mercedes-Benz CLAalthough if this were true, it would need two of them, one for each of the two rear motors (unless used for the single front motor).

Top Gear editor Jack Rix also got a chance to ride the prototype and it echoes much of what Cropley said about the performance, quietness and comfort it provides. He discovered that Jaguar is planning to give the Model 00 an acceleration sound that “won’t sound like a spaceship”, hinting that it could emit a realistic engine tone like the one… I tested the Mercedes AMG C590 prototype, Which plausibly fakes a V-8 mated to a dual-clutch gearbox.

With an expected battery capacity of around 120 kilowatt-hours, the car should go more than 400 miles on a single charge, although the large battery will make it quite heavy, as it weighs about 5,500 pounds (2.2 tons). With that kind of heft, it certainly won’t feel like a sports car, but it should still be more engaging to drive than other electric cars of the same size. custom electric jaguar ex-car, iPacewere among the best-driving electric cars on sale, and the 00 can (and should) continue that legacy.

Next year, Jaguar is expected to unveil the production-ready Type 00, which will likely be renamed and carry a starting price of more than $130,000.
