Chinese automaker giant Geely Group already has a presence in the United States through its Volvo, Polestar, and Lotus brands, but is looking to expand its presence in the near future. The company was present At CES 2026 With models of some of its other brands for journalists to examine, a hint that they could be introduced here in the future.
In an interview with Automatic line networkGeely’s head of global communications, Ash Sutcliffe, emphasized that the group is always looking to expand into new global markets, including the United States. And in the next few years too, if all goes according to plan.
“The big question for us is when and where we will go to the United States,” Sutcliffe said. “I think we’ll have an announcement on that in the next 24 to 36 months.”
He didn’t reveal much, but he said Zeekr and Lynk & Co would be a good fit for the market – which is what we also felt in testing InsideEVs SUVs of those brands, Sedans and crossovers In both Europe and China.
Some of the models brought to Las Vegas include Zicker 7X And the Lynk & Co 08 are additional mid-size crossovers, which we’ve done Tested in Europe They were very impressed. The former is 800V EV With 400 kW charging and the latter (which is closely related to Volvo XC70) is a large battery-powered hybrid vehicle with an electric range of up to 124 miles (200 km).
Both are groundbreaking vehicles in many respects and very popular in Europe, but the tariffs will prevent Geely from importing them to the US, as they are both manufactured in China. Sutcliffe suggested that it could be compiled locally and referenced Volvo plant in RidgevilleSouth Carolina, as a possible site for its construction on American soil.
The facility, which has seen $1.3 billion in investment over the past 10 years to become a manufacturing hub for Volvo electric cars in North America, is currently assembling the Volvo EX90 and Polestar 3 for the US market. I will too Production of the Volvo XC60 begins Towards the end of the year.
Geely sold just over 3 million vehicles in 2025, meeting its forecast for last year. The plan is to sell 3.45 million cars this year, most of which will carry the Geely badge. Lynk&Co and Zeekr’s global targets in 2026 are 400,000 and 300,000 units, respectively.
The company also had the Geely EX5 electric crossover in Las Vegas, but Sutcliffe didn’t mention any plans to bring that more mainstream brand to the United States. It clearly wants to maintain a more premium presence here, and since it is already present in the country through its Volvo subsidiary, bringing in additional brands wouldn’t be too difficult, especially since their cars are built on common platforms that are already built in America.
