Honda has launched an updated version of the Fit in China.

The Honda Fit small hatchback came with a different front design that distinguishes it from other models.

The Honda Fit is manufactured in China and is offered at a heavily discounted price, starting at $9,600, with a production limit of only 3,000 cars.

The fourth-generation Fit debuted in 2019, and received a mild update in 2022 that focused primarily on Japan and Europe.

The Fit withdrew from the American market after the 2020 model year due to a decline in sales.

The Fit was launched in 2020 under two different names: GAC Honda Fit and Dongfeng Honda Life.

Features of the updated Honda Fit

The version shown here is from GAC Honda, and first appeared in April 2025 via the files of the Chinese Ministry of Industry.

The most notable visual change in the car is thinner, separate LED headlights surrounding a new grille and a new bumper with a wide lower opening.

In terms of appearance, the new interface leans more towards Toyota’s style compared to Honda’s traditional design, and otherwise the design remains the same with the same sides and background as before.

Honda offers this version in one trim level only, with 15-inch wheels and 3 new colors: Fiery Yellow, Dynamic Blue, and Starry Night White.

The length of the Honda Fit increased slightly to 4.169 metres, while the wheelbase remained unchanged at 2.53 metres.

Updated Honda Fit interior

The Honda Fit’s cabin maintains the familiar design with minor updates.

The entertainment screen now measures 10.1 inches, along with a 7-inch digital instrument panel.

The cabin is still very simple, with cloth seats and a two-speaker audio system, but no advanced driver assistance systems.

Honda has not confirmed whether Magic Seats are available, so this feature remains in question.

Honda Fit mechanical specifications

The car is based on a 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine without any hybrid system, with a power of 122 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque, and power is transmitted to the front wheels via a transmission (CVT) only.

GAC Honda says that the updated Fit is capable of traveling more than 700 km on a single tank of fuel, and buyers also get a lifetime warranty for the engine and gearbox.

It is still unclear whether this design will reach the European version of the Jazz or the Japanese Fit, and it is expected to remain exclusive to the Chinese market.

Honda Fit price

The price of the 2026 GAC Honda Fit starts at 66,800 yuan, or about $9,600, which is 31,000 yuan less than the Dongfeng Honda Life, which did not receive a similar update, and this price puts it close to basic Chinese electric cars such as BYD Seagull, Wuling Bingo, and Geely Xingyuan.

Chinese reports indicate a sharp decline in Fit sales due to increasing competition from local electric cars.

Monthly sales fell to less than 100 cars by mid-2025, then to only 3 cars in October and zero in November.

That’s why GAC-Honda decided to offer one series at a huge discount and a limited production of 3,000 cars.

Plans to launch additional versions in the future are still unclear, as current production is limited to a car with a 1.5-liter engine with a CVT gearbox only.

In one of Honda’s official images showcasing the four generations of the Fit, a surprise appeared: a strongly modified concept version featuring a more aggressive body package, prominent dynamic elements, a lowered height, bold wheels, and graphics inspired by racing cars.

Although Honda fans would like to hear news about the Type R version of the Fit, this version appears to be just a design exercise to ignite the imagination of buyers in China and demonstrate the possibilities of modification. The sportiest version of the Fit/Jazz remains the RS model available in Japan and Europe with special shocks and a modified suspension system.
