  • Volkswagen ID. Buzz will not return for the 2026 model year.
  • Sales of the vintage-inspired minivan got off to a slow start, partly due to its high price and relatively small range.
  • The model is not completely abolished.

The nice one Volkswagen ID.Buzz Volkswagen appears to be the latest victim of slowing electric vehicle sales in the US as VW is pulling the retro-inspired minivan from the US market for the 2026 model year. Carscopes It was first reported and confirmed by an InsideEVs spokesperson.

There have been high expectations for the ID.Buzz since Volkswagen unveiled a demo version in 2017. But it has had a tough time doing so since going on sale in America in late 2024.

The German-made truck faced surprise tariffs once President Trump took office for the second time. Sales got off to a slow start, likely due to the truck’s starting price of $61,545 for just 234 miles. A pair of recalls and stop-sale orders further hampered sales.

Although political blows were not the only influencing factor here, they cannot be ignored either. When the EV tax credit expired prematurely in September, it led to a decline in appetite for EVs. This made it especially difficult for an expensive product like ID.Buzz. From now on, the electric car market will only have space for cars that can already penetrate, or cars that automakers want to support themselves.

A Volkswagen spokesman said Carscopes That the model is not completely abolished.

“We gave dealers this direction: ID. ‘Buzz continues to serve as an important product for the Volkswagen brand, and maintaining its presence in the market remains a top priority,’” they said. “This approach allows us to focus our resources more effectively on existing stock and support retail performance throughout the remainder of ’25, ensuring a strong foundation as we prepare for the transition into ’25 next year.”

In recent months, several automakers have reconsidered their electric vehicle plans, delaying planned models Cut the fat in their alignments. In the past two months, the Ford F-150 Lightning, Acura ZDX, and Nissan Ariya have all been canceled. It seems that the discontinuation of ID.Buzz may not be the last change we see.
